Introduction
New York has a strong set of post houses that can take a film, series or campaign from dailies through to delivery under one roof. The 12 companies below were chosen because each handles several stages of post together, usually picture finishing, colour and sound, and often editorial and VFX as well.
The market has thinned and consolidated over the past two years. Technicolor collapsed in February 2025, a week after announcing it would close its US offices, and Light Iron, bought out from Panavision by its own staff in May 2026, now concentrates on Los Angeles. The New York houses that remain are busy: Harbor says it supported projects that drew more than 95 Emmy nominations in 2026, and Company 3 colourists graded three films at the 64th New York Film Festival.
Every company here has an active New York facility in 2026. The list is in no order of merit. Separate pages cover specialist editing, colour, VFX and sound studios, so this one favours houses that combine those services.
The best post-production companies in New York
1. Harbor
Independent studio group · New York · harborpicturecompany.com

It says it supported more than a dozen projects that together received over 95 Emmy nominations in 2026, and it worked on five Cannes Lions 2026 winners, including the sound for Novartis “Relax Your Tight End”, which took the Pharma Grand Prix.
On Your Friends and Neighbors (Apple TV) Harbor handled dailies, editorial, colour, VFX, sound and ADR, and it also worked on The Beast in Me, Paradise and Death by Lightning. Harbor also provided ADR on Only Murders in the Building, The Gilded Age and Slow Horses. Colourist Élodie Ichter joined the New York facility in 2026, and Danny Duke was appointed head of VFX for features and episodic in September.

Company 3 opened in New York in 2002 and now runs two facilities on West 18th Street, offering colour, conform, dailies, editorial and sound. Framestore bought it from Deluxe in 2020, and its site now names Company 3 Studios Inc. as the operating company. Six of its colourists were shortlisted for the 2026 FilmLight Camerimage colour awards.
Company 3 artists graded three films at the 2026 New York Film Festival: James Gray’s Paper Tiger, Behemoth! and Misty Green. Senior colourist Tom Poole graded Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It suits large features and premium series that need a colourist with a long track record and a facility that can carry the work through to deliverables.
3. Goldcrest Post New York

The wider Goldcrest group’s credits include Carol, American Honey and Jason Bourne. It is a good fit for independent features that want picture finishing and the sound mix handled in one place, with a London sister facility for co-productions.
4. PostWorks New York
Independent facility · West Village · postworks.com

In July 2026 CEO Justin Wineburgh added a new VFX leadership team led by EVP Tom Kendall.

Recent work spans documentary and narrative: The Jinx: Part Two, American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson, Feud: Capote vs. the Swans and the feature Blink Twice. It is especially strong on documentary finishing, where scanning archive film and mastering for streaming platforms sit side by side.
8. Gigantic Studios
Boutique post house · Chelsea · giganticstudios.com
Gigantic Studios on West 25th Street combines sound editorial and mixing, picture editorial and finishing, foley, ADR and voice-over, and a screening room. It works across film, television and advertising.

9. Dungeon Beach

Running Man runs a 6,000 square foot facility on West 37th Street with edit suites, colour in a laser-projection screening room, VFX, mastering, mixing, voice recording and LTO archiving. Suites can be rented short or long term, with shared storage between rooms.
It is a practical base for long-form productions that want their offline team and finishing in the same building, and it offers same-day turnaround on many jobs.
What to look for in a New York post-production company
Decide how much of the pipeline you want in one place. A full-service house can run dailies, edit, VFX, colour, mix and delivery under one producer, which cuts down on handoffs and conform problems. Boutiques often give more senior attention, though you may need to coordinate two or three vendors yourself.
Meet the colourist and the mixer, not only the sales team. The person grading your film or series shapes the result more than the facility does, and senior talent moves between New York houses fairly often. Ask who will be on your project and whether they will be available for the whole schedule.
Check the delivery side early. Streamers and broadcasters each publish their own specifications for HDR, Atmos, IMF packages and archival masters, and some houses are much more practised at them than others. A house that has recently delivered to your platform will save time at the end.
Agree how media moves and how review works before the shoot. Ask how dailies and cuts are shared, how notes are collected and tracked, and where the latest version always lives. Productions with remote directors or clients in other cities need a review process that does not depend on everyone being in the suite.
How Fabric helps post-production teams
Fabric gives a post team one workspace for media, project documents and client feedback, with AI search across all of it. For productions that move between an edit suite, a colour bay and a mix stage, it keeps references, cuts and notes in the same place.
Heavy media sits in Fabric’s cloud drive, which streams files on demand so they take no local disk space, and large video files open without a full download. That suits proxy workflows, where editors work from lighter files while the originals stay in shared storage. There is more on this in the best cloud storage for video editors.
Uploaded audio and video are transcribed automatically, with clickable timestamps, so interviews and dailies become searchable. Search works by meaning across scripts, PDFs, images and transcripts, and colour search helps with grade references and LUT test stills.
For review, any cut or folder can be published as a web page and protected with a password. Link analytics shows when each named recipient opened a link, and clients can leave threaded comments without creating an account. Timestamped comments on video are coming soon; comments and highlights on PDFs and documents work today.
Password protection and link analytics are included on Pro and Team plans. See plans for teams.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best post-production company in New York?
It depends on the project. For features and premium series that need every stage in one building, Harbor and Company 3 are the largest options, and Harbor’s 2026 work drew more than 95 Emmy nominations across its clients’ shows. Smaller productions often get more senior attention at boutiques such as Dungeon Beach or Gigantic Studios.
What does a full-service post house do?
A full-service house handles most of what happens after the shoot: dailies, offline and online editing, VFX, colour grading, sound editing and mixing, ADR, and final deliverables. Having them together reduces handoffs between vendors.
What happened to Technicolor in New York?
Technicolor Group entered administration in the UK and receivership in France in February 2025, after announcing plans to close its US offices. Its studios, including The Mill and MPC, were sold to different buyers in the following weeks.
Does Light Iron still have a New York facility?
Light Iron now lists only its Hollywood facility. A group of its employees bought the company’s assets from Panavision in May 2026, and it has said it will concentrate on Los Angeles while still supporting projects elsewhere.
Should I use a full-service house or specialist studios?
A full-service house is simpler to manage and suits projects with tight schedules. Specialists can be the better choice when one discipline matters most, such as heavy effects work; see the best VFX studios in New York for those.
